Reputations
In 2008, TU9 universities led the way in research in Germany. They handled about a quarter of all research funded by outside sources at 383 universities in the country. These universities were also ranked at the top by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Former TU9 president, Professor Ernst Schmachtenberg, who was also the rector of RWTH Aachen University, said, “The TU9 group of polytechnic colleges and universities is known for its strong research.”
Tuition and Fees
Most TU9 universities don’t ask for tuition fees, but students still need to pay some money each semester. These fees, which can range from 150 to 350 euros, help with things like campus upkeep and food services. Some universities even throw in a free pass for public transportation!
Now, tuition fees are a bit different. They’re higher and usually required for students from non-EU countries. For example, in Baden-Württemberg, it’s been €1,500 per semester since 2017. That’s what students at places like the University of Stuttgart have to pay.
Also, if you’re going for a second degree or taking a longer course, some states might ask for extra tuition fees, around €500 to €700 per semester.
